Cosmetic Surgery Experts Now Use Botox To End Sweaty Palms

Wet handshakes are not only a huge embarrassment, but they're also a big turnoff for the recipient, a sign of nerves, and a frequent murderer of business deals. Unfortunately, Britons suffering with hyperhidrosis know this all too well. However, Palm-tox may just be the cure for excessive sweating these patients have had to endure.

Cosmetic surgery experts from the UK's largest cosmetic surgery group, Transform, have found a popular wrinkle smoothing treatment is effective at stemming excessive sweating. The group feels this new use for Botox injections will be a welcomed discovery for the 1% of Britons who currently suffer with the condition hyperhidrosis.

The cosmetic surgery company has noticed a significant increase in the number of patients inquiring about the treatment at its London clinics, from both new and current Botox patients. Many of these patients are males who are tired of dealing with the problem and just want it cured once and for all.

Transform Cosmetic Surgery Group believes much of this increase can be attributed to the recession and the appearance of warmer weather. They have experienced a 200% increase in inquiries over October 2009 numbers.

To stop the intensive sweating, the Botox is injected and blocks the nerves to prevent the signals from reaching the sweat glands. The treatment takes approximately 10 minutes and the effects last approximately six months.

Gwen Davies, Transform's Non-Surgical Manager, was ecstatic, "We've seen an increasing number of patients come to us for hyperhidrosis in the last few years. This treatment was introduced specifically to help sufferers with excessively sweaty armpits, which affects approximately one out of every 100 people."

"We've found Botox to be a successful treatment for bruxism (grinding of the jaws), migraines, and sweating in addition to a cosmetic wrinkle treatment and our cosmetic surgery experts continue to look for more uses. The use of 'Palm-tox' is a specialty treatment, however, and should only be performed by a cosmetic surgeon experienced in this area," the Transform Non-Surgical Manager continued.

Transform is the longest running cosmetic surgery group in Great Britain with 24 clinics across the country and over 35 years in the business. They offer a full line up of surgical and non-surgical procedures that include everything from boob jobs, nose jobs to Botox and facelifts.
