Do something special for your home with wooden flooring

A new year, and in fact a new decade, has begun and thus it is the perfect time to stick to your new year’s resolutions and revamp yourself a bit. But this does not only have to apply to you as a person. Our homes are something that we spend a lot of time in and therefore should reflect our style, whether it is our choice of furniture or our preference of carpet versus wood flooring, as well as any trends that we really love.
Now this certainly means that every house completely different from the next, because of course we all have different personal tastes. But there are some things that people seem to be agreeing on in 2010; and one of them is that wooden flooring is in and carpet is out.
However this is definitely not a trend that started in 2010. Over the last decade or so there has been a dramatic shift in the way people want their homes to look. Today it is all about being modern and practical, even for people who live in an older style home like something from the Victorian era. The carpeted look that dominated the 1970s and 1980s was certainly popular then, but has fast become an outdated way to cover your floors. Wooden floors also allow you to showcase your personal style because there is a range of different finishes available so that you can find the perfect one to blend seamlessly with your homes existing features and lighting.
First of all, wooden floors actually look better than carpet as wood floors are a lot more modern and are certainly trendier. Walking into a house with wooden flooring instantly shows off the fact that the owners of the house take pride in the appearance of their house. Switching from carpet to woods floors can also increase the re-sale value of your house by a considerable amount, which just goes to show just how sought after wooden floors really are. Not only that, if you are thinking of selling your house in the future then getting a bit more money for it is always a bonus!
Wooden floors are also a lot more practical than carpeted floors because they are a lot easier to clean. Imagine not having to scrub your carpet when something has been spilt on it! With wooden floors all you have to do is wipe it up and your floor is as good as new.
The other thing about carpeted floors is that after a while they begin to look worn and old; regardless of whether they are stained or not. An engineered wooden floor on the other hand has the life expectancy of around 60 years. So it will be ideal for you for as long as you live in your house, and for the next occupants too!
An engineered wood floor is what is suitable for most houses and is 15mm thick with a selected 4mm hardwood layer top. The glues that are used by a company like Timberland Flooring to install the wooden flooring is water based so that there are no harsh chemicals intoxicating your home, and the wooden floor that you purchase is installed by a professionally trained team so that you know your home is really being looked after.
