Keep Your Eyes on Championship Football

ChampionshipQPR

Which team, from the Swansea City football club, Reading FC, QPR or Middlesbrough FC, or any other Championship football team for that matter, will have the guts and determination, as well as the skills, to reign victorious this Championship season?

Trailing behind those at the very top of the table, though not by too much, is QPR who only a few weeks ago managed to beat Barnsley 5-2. However, as Barnsley is near the bottom of the table it is going to take more than that to impress this season. QPR will be hoping get back to their glory days when they were one of the original Premiership League teams when it was created in 1992. Unfortunately for QPR though, they only remained in the Premiership League until 1996 when they were relegated to the Championship. Since then they have remained in the Championship, with even a couple of seasons in Division One, and will be eager to break this trend and get back up into the Premiership League sooner rather than later.

Much closer to the bottom of the table this season is Reading FC, who were beaten by rivals Middlesbrough 0-2 only recently, though they had managed to beat Preston FC the week prior; not a bad feat considering Preston are having a pretty good year.  So Reading FC has got a lot of catching up to do if they want to be even slightly threatening this year. Their recent bad form is somewhat surprising considering that it was only the 2005-06 season that they were promoted to the Premiership League. However their good form did not last as long as Reading FC may have hoped and they were relegated back down to the Championship in 2008. so to prevent further relegation at the end of this season Reading FC really need to up their game a bit, and hopefully their fans will be right behind them to lend a hand.

Although they are just trailing behind QPR, the Swansea City football team managed to beat QPR 2-0 at the beginning of October and the team is starting to show a little promise this season. However unfortunately for the Swansea City football club highly influential Ferrie Bodd was injured a few weeks ago and will be out for the season so the team are going to have to work even harder to become contenders for the cup or a promotion. The Swansea City football club have not played in the top flight of football since their short stint there in the early 1980s under the watchful eye of former Wales forward John Toshack. However this run did not last long and they were relegated eventually to the bottom division by the end of the 1980s- something that they will be hoping will not be repeated.

Perhaps the team to be wary of this season is Middlesbrough FC, who currently sit close to the top and are showing some real class on the football field. Middlesbrough FC’s best season in their history was undoubtedly in 2003-04 in which they beat the Bolton Wanders in the League Cup final. But have they got what it takes to get back to that former glory? Certainly they are playing some good football at the moment, with a recent win against Reading FC, but is it enough to stay at the top and eventually get promoted? Only time will tell.

It is still early days in this Championship season meaning that anyone could win the Cup and get the all important promotion; but who will it be?
